Euthyphro uses the term “knowledge” in an ordinary (not philosophical way). Dispute in expectations.
Socrates wants this: what are the criteria which an answer to “What is F?” must satisfy?
- It must cover all cases of F with a single definition (more or a classification or like an account of essence)
- The defintion needs to explain what makes something that is F F (Is it healthy, because it’s recommended by doctors, or is it recommended because it’s healthy??) Aristotle critisies the need for a single definition
- Is Socrates’ method capable of more than revealing the inconcistencies ins someone’s beliefs? How could one go about finding the right answer? How could one determine if one has found the right answer?
- Does one really need to know the definition of piety in order to be pious and/or act piously
